What has changed in NINJA GAIDEN BLACK 2
Weapon upgrades use essence like NG2, and it works like NG2 where if you have the essence for it you can fully upgrade any weapon at any time at any shop
Blood and gore like NG2
Item pickups and combo counter is red like NG2
The Buddha boss in Chapter 1 is gone
Enemy counts are just about the same as S2
Damage is more in line with NG2 on Tac Team Ninjas, and delimb rates too
IS ninjas are more in line with their S2 counterparts, more tanky and resistant to Izuna Drops
Item chests are more similar to S2 (let my guard down, ghost fish and giant bats are back in chests)
Rasetsu boss has HP like S2 (which might mean the other bosses have really high HP like S2)
Genshin in Chapter 2 didn't seem very tanky at all, but seemingly more than I remember in Mentor for NG2
Can be Izuna Dropped like S2 and 3RE
Bosses will show their name during the fight
LotTG cannot be saved, used on acquiring like S2 and does not refill health
Chapter 2 is daytime like S2
S2 style bow, lock on effect, infinite arrows, and no UTs
Archers pre Rasetsu in Chapter 2 like S2, apparently this Rasetsu is called Gyuki
Forward Y with the Claws doesn't seem to guarantee delimbs like in S2
Equip menus are different
Flails acquired in an early chest in chapter 3 like in S2
New camera controls
Van Gelfs not guaranteed to delimb from forward Y with the Claws like in S2
Hatensku and Statue of Liberty bosses are also gone. Dark Dragon boss has stayed.
Costume count for each character is in-line with Sigma 2, not Sigma 2+/ Master Collection.
Ninja Race is gone. Team Tag mission has stayed. Ninja Cinema is gone. Hero difficulty is back. Mouse and keyboard support.
On certain wall runs, the camera angle is on a fixed camera rather than following
IS (Incendiary Shurikens) not a ranged weapon like S2
Gatling Gun also not a ranged weapon
Tests of Valor gone like S2
Gigadeath now called Death Megalo Flyer lol
"Gigadeath" immune to melee damage like S2
Brought back a DOA reference (DOAPhone ad in chapter 4)
The chapter 4 giant is called Godomus
The chapter 11 giant is called Godomuf
Enma's Fang returns, and the Xbox machine is no longer there like S2
DOA girl chapters return
- Momiji's chapter at least doesn't feel like a huge drag anymore, she can finally dish out respectable damage instead of hitting like a wet noodle
- Somehow Rachel's UTs seem even worse than they were before. Less enemies in the second half of the elevator section, and no more enemies shooting at you from a far where you have to use the gun to take them out.
- Ayane is still terrible to play as, seems like they made no adjustments to anything in her level. This is a fucking awful level and wish this wasn't brought back.
Howling Canon returns
So much easier to see the area underwater where the Water Dragon boss is, and echoing effects were added to make it sound like a cave
Still confined to the platform on the Water Dragon fight like S2
Chapter 6 skeleton boss is called Gogmagog
Some objects, when behind them, will turn invisible (i.e. less vision obstructed in a fight in some situations)
Armadillo is impervious to projectiles like S2
The snow in the armadillo fight and Fight or Die chapter is gorgeous, it actually leaves snow trails like RDR2
I can't remember if S2 had them, but the chapter 11 giant fight has Mech Van Gelfs and Rocket Tac Team Ninjas as ganks like NG2, but they only appear at half health.
Ghost fish can be brutal, in some instances they remind me of NG04 ghost fish that just delete my HP. They do seem a bit tricky to get them to let go.
The Heart of Darkness chapter changes from night to daytime much earlier
One skull location has slightly changed
King Quator is the name of the dragon in front of everyone's favorite staircase
Speaking of staircase, it's the same as S2. NEVER FORGET WHAT THEY TOOK FROM US

Several strange visual bugs around the staircase, like a sheet of fog or something
I'm almost positive that the Archfiend's fist slams have a bigger hitbox now. The way I used to dodge in NG2, even in S2, doesn't work here.
Slightly different endscene
